Advent
The first window symbolizes the season of hope and expectation that is Advent. Biblically, Advent recalls stories of those who waited in anticipation for the birth of Jesus, stories of John the Baptist, Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth and Zechariah. In the church’s celebration we recall that Christian hope is rooted in the expectation that the presence of God may arrive at anytime and in anyone. This window represents how we on the Canadian Prairies join in waiting the arrival of a kingdom that is both here and yet to come.
The Advent window on the east side of the sanctuary was donated as a thank offering from Len and Bertha Charlton. Len passed away in October 2001 but we remember that the stained glass window project excited him and he wanted to be a part of it.
The Advent window on the west side of the sanctuary is a gift to the church from many people who share a love of God and a commitment to the church. This was part of the dream that any and every size gift would be welcomed and cherished.
