Thanksgiving Sunday we welcome a visit from the Church of the Deaf.

The service will be interpreted in ASL.

 

Join us for Worship Sunday at 10:00 AM followed by fellowship and refreshments in the He/SheBrews Café

 

  • We recently learned of the death of a member of our community Pat Slobodzian. While the last years of Pat’s life were spent at a personal care home in Treherne, MB we remember her as a joyful presence in our midst.

 

  • We were saddened to learn of the sudden death on Wednesday of Ed Hare. A member of Charleswood for many, many years, his life will be celebrated at a memorial to be held in the church on Thursday, October 17 at 2:00 PM. Please remember Ed’s family in your prayers this week.

Happy Thanksgiving!

In whatever form you may gather this weekend, we at Charleswood United Church wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and pray that gratitude may be a constant companion throughout the year. In that spirit I would like to offer you a grace for use at table or for your own spiritual reflection.

 

God from whom all blessings flow,
You bless us with the beauty and mystery and the wonder of creation.
You provide for our needs and invite us to respond with a generous Spirit.
Thank you for the gifts that fill our lives with joy and love.
Thank you for the times we gather around tables as family, friends, or community and share the bounty of the earth.
In this world where we more often hear of sorrow and brokenness,

let us be no less filled with hope,
And no less grateful for what we have received.
In Jesus name. Amen.

Michael’s involvement in the wider church has included ministry with children and youth, membership on the National Division of World Outreach, supervision of campus ministry, and the Ten Days for Global Justice National Committee. He has been blessed by the opportunity to represent the United Church of Canada in the Bahamas, Cuba, and Africa on different occasions. Michael has taught at the University of Winnipeg – Faculty of Theology and is past President of the Conference of Manitoba and North Western Ontario.
