News from Charleswood United Church

 

Spaghetti Dinner and Dance for October 21 has been cancelled

Sadly we have had to cancel the Spaghetti Dinner and Dance that was scheduled for Saturday, October 21. Full refunds will be given to those who have bought tickets. A big thank you to those who were involved in planning this event. We will look forward to opportunities for congregational fellowship in the near future.

 

Newcomers Welcome and Dessert Night

If you are new to CUC or connected with us during the pandemic we invite you to join us  on Wednesday, October 11 at 7:00 in the Van Roon Community Hall for an informal fellowship and an opportunity to orient you a bit more to our ministry. Anyone wishing this connection is most welcome.

 

Still Waters

Still Waters is our new grief support fellowship for people coping with sorrow in any form. Led by Michael Wilson, Still Waters is an opportunity to share, listen, reflect, pray, and otherwise work towards the healing of a broken heart. Meeting monthly, our next gathering is Wednesday, October 25 at 1:30.

 

Christmas Hampers

Believe it or not we are not far away from our annual Christmas Hamper program. Information on donations and opportunities for volunteering will be coming out by the end of the month.

 

Dates Ahead

  • Singer-songwriter Keith MacPherson will be our guest in worship on Sunday, October 22 at 10:00 AM. Join us for a lively upbeat service with this talented local musician

 

  • Remembrance Sunday – Sunday, November 5 at 10:00 AM. CUC will also be providing the Remembrance Day Service at The Wellington Residence on November 11 at 11:00 AM.

 

  • Super Saturday Sundae is our annual Christmas Crafts Day to be held on Saturday, December 2.

 

  • Women’s Advent Service is scheduled for Monday, December 4 at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary

Michael’s involvement in the wider church has included ministry with children and youth, membership on the National Division of World Outreach, supervision of campus ministry, and the Ten Days for Global Justice National Committee. He has been blessed by the opportunity to represent the United Church of Canada in the Bahamas, Cuba, and Africa on different occasions. Michael has taught at the University of Winnipeg – Faculty of Theology and is past President of the Conference of Manitoba and North Western Ontario.
