Michael Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson

Michael Wilson came to Charleswood in 1994 after five years at the Birtle-Isabella-Miniota Pastoral Charge in Western Manitoba. For both Michael and his wife Maureen, this was a move to their hometown.

Michael studied science at the University of Manitoba and theology at Emmanuel College in Toronto before ordination in 1989. In 2001, he graduated from Chicago Theological Seminary with the degree of Doctor of Ministry.

Michael’s involvement in the wider church has included ministry with children and youth, membership on the National Division of World Outreach, supervision of campus ministry, and the Ten Days for Global Justice National Committee. He has been blessed by the opportunity to represent the United Church of Canada in the Bahamas , Cuba , and Africa on different occasions. Michael has taught at the University of Winnipeg , Faculty of Theology and is past President of the Conference of Manitoba and North Western Ontario.

Michael and Maureen share a love of sports, theatre, the arts, and most especially for their three children, Aidan, Benjamin, and Leah.

Michael is particularly appreciated for the passion, energy, and exceptional talent with which he delivers his sermons. He brings the scripture to life by drawing parallels between scripture, current events and everyday life. His great sense of timing and keen sense of humour serve to hold the attention of the listener and deliver the message.

Nancy-J Nancy Jeffrey

Nancy Jeffrey joined the staff at Charleswood United Church in the spring of 2011 as an interim office administrator when the office was in a transition period.  In October of that year, she took on the part time position of Bookkeeper and supports the front office when necessary.
Nancy is not a stranger to CUC having arrived back in Winnipeg and Charleswood with her husband Russell in the fall of 1991.  Nancy & Russ have 4 children; Mitchell (Kelli), Libby (Brad) of Regina, Paula (Toronto) and Blaine. She is especially enjoying her first grandchild, Julia.
She brings with her many years of bookkeeping experience, through the family business as well as her current bookkeeping job with a personal leadership coaching business.  Her many years on committees as member and chair as well as coordinating programs within the church, make her an effective administrator of the books and general knowledge of the functions within the church.
The Jeffrey family have started up a badminton league within the church, making excellent use of the Van Roon Community Hall.  Nancy greatly enjoys her involvement in the string choir here at the church. She is involved in two leagues at the Charleswood Curling Club and loves camping with family and friends and all the connections that provides.  Dearest to her heart is CUC and what it has offered her and the family since arriving in Charleswood.
We at Charleswood feel blessed to have Nancy on our staff and in our church community.
